Hezekiah’s Tunnel

Though I do have a short YouTube video of my short walk through Hezekiah’s Tunnel, pierced with screams, gasps, and the din of elementary school students walking through a small space in rather cold water, I wanted to simply post a few photos of my walk. The tunnel itself (see 2 Chronicles 32 if you’re unfamiliar with the story) is really quite remarkable, constructed by a group of men digging from both sides, listening for the sound of the other group. We know this not only from the Biblical text, but from an inscription by a rightfully proud workman.

And here were some of my traveling companions.
