The oud finally made an appearance (and we’re not talking Doctor Who).
Here we see a précis of the conflict. The Palestinian refugee camp Aida of 4000 established in 1952 by the UN to aid those displaced from the land. In the background lies a far larger (and clearly better maintained) Israeli settlement that officially lies within Palestine. The olive groves, I’m told, were once used as agriculture and park for the Palestinians. Notice the wall, though. It closely attends to the refugee camp cutting off access to the grove while remaining quite far from the settlement. If other settlements are any indication, this is likely one more reminder that Israeli land should grow while Palestinian land should dwindle.
